DAK-Gesundheit is a self-governing corporation under public law. It is subject to the principle of solidarity. This means that all insured persons are entitled to the same benefits; Contribution, personal health risks, entry age or marital status are irrelevant. This principle makes statutory health insurance significantly different from private health insurance.
